"Look what I found on Pinterest" is not an uncommon phrase heard in my house.
Sometimes these are bigger projects some are small ideas. Some eventually move out of the idea phase and into the action phase. The latest project that Cari put into use in our house was removing the carpet off of the stairs and painting the treads.
When she brought this idea up to me I was skeptical. But the carpet is old so even if it doesn't work there really is no harm done.
Cari did all of the work on this start to finish and shared some photos of how this turned out.
Step 1: remove the carpet and padding. Pull up all the nails and staples (leave in for extra injuries).
Step 2: putty the holes and sand the stair treads.
Step 3: paint the risers. Use pretty colors for additional effect.
Step 4: paint half of the treads. You can paint all of them but plan on staying either upstairs or downstairs until they dry.
Step 5: lock the cat in the bathroom until paint dries.
Step 6: paint the remaining parts of the treads and try to teach your kids which side is dry.
Step 7: post photos to Facebook.
The results are great. This is currently one of my favorite Pinterest projects and Cari did an amazing job on it. Total cost of this project was time and some paint.

Scout Camp
Randy spent a week at scout camp. I remember days when he was one of the youngest boys there. Now, he and his friends are the oldest ones in the troop.
When we visited camp on family night you could see that this group of older boys knew their place at camp. It was their camp.
It also appeared that he picked up a part time job while there. . .

Play this Game
Last week a new video game was released for PC and PS4. Rocket League is playing soccer with rocket powered cars.
It is awesome. Each match is only 5 minutes and very exciting as you battle for each goal. On the PS4 you can play 4 player split screen and play up to 8 players online with a crazy game of 4 vs 4.
As you compete customization options become available to you so your vehicle can look the way you want it.
For the month of July the game is FREE for playstation plus members. Otherwise the game is $20 and well worth it. If you start playing, let me know.

Photos from my phone
Here's some more random stuff that turned up on my cell phone over the past two weeks.
First up.... EWW!!! A tick! Thankfully my daughter discovered this on the dog before it dug in and was quickly removed and executed.
Look what I found at the store. . . bonsai. I think I am going to start a bonsai garden. Does anyone have any tiny scissors I can have?
This helicopter circled over our house a few times last week before flying away. I was waiting for a dozen men to repel out of it and onto our yard. Thankfully that didn't happen.
Finally today. . . figs. Not sure why I photographed that, but I did.

Love My Liberty!
For the first time Liberty, SC held their own Independence Day festival. The city rec dept has use of the old high school football stadium and this was the best place for the event.
A stage was setup with live music, city council grilled free hot dogs for everyone, local churches gave away free watermelon, popcorn, and other goodies, and people gathered on the football field to play frisbee, football, and other games.
The event kicked off with a bike parade where kids decorated their bikes with flags and patriotic colors.
Of course, it would be hard to hold such an event without fireworks, so we had that too. It was great to see a lot of people turn out for this first event and I hope to see more events like this in the future.
