"Look what I found on Pinterest" is not an uncommon phrase heard in my house.
Sometimes these are bigger projects some are small ideas. Some eventually move out of the idea phase and into the action phase. The latest project that Cari put into use in our house was removing the carpet off of the stairs and painting the treads.
When she brought this idea up to me I was skeptical. But the carpet is old so even if it doesn't work there really is no harm done.
Cari did all of the work on this start to finish and shared some photos of how this turned out.
Step 1: remove the carpet and padding. Pull up all the nails and staples (leave in for extra injuries).
Step 2: putty the holes and sand the stair treads.
Step 3: paint the risers. Use pretty colors for additional effect.
Step 4: paint half of the treads. You can paint all of them but plan on staying either upstairs or downstairs until they dry.
Step 5: lock the cat in the bathroom until paint dries.
Step 6: paint the remaining parts of the treads and try to teach your kids which side is dry.
Step 7: post photos to Facebook.
The results are great. This is currently one of my favorite Pinterest projects and Cari did an amazing job on it. Total cost of this project was time and some paint.
